On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and data retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most publicized missing child cases and is still unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

One recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I know."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.

The jury was advised that through emails, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a effort to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with the police force who gathered the data, told the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court heard the co-defendant established a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a trip to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to state the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the appearance to the village, that area, in December 2024.

The court heard communications between the two defendants, in that autumn, discussing endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their house, the defendant transmitted a message which expressed: "We're currently sitting adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark like private investigators. I desired to do this with another person I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings ongoing.
