19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, took control to force a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
