Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
